Abstract
Decentralised coordination principles unite theory, art, and practice. Emerging from multi‑agent learning research, these principles are rendered tangible through CA::VE's immersive installations, where human swarms enact emergence and operationalised in sustainable robotics via PROTEAS. The presentation demonstrates how collective intelligence, designed through simple local rules, generates resilient systems across distributed learning systems, public engagement, and environmental responsibility.
About the speaker
Avgi Stavrou is a researcher in distributed multi-agent systems, focusing on collective behaviours that emerge from them. She is completing her PhD at the FARSCOPE CDT at UoB/UWE. Her research explores the principles of intelligence, emergent behaviour, game theory, and decision-making dynamics, developing mathematical frameworks for decentralised coordination strategies in dynamic environments. Co-founding CA::VE (Collective Audio-Visual Emergence), translates complex systems into immersive experiences, with the project "The Forest" inviting audiences to generate audio-visual ecosystems illustrating emergence and feedback loops. Additionally, she co-founded PROTEAS, which employs robotics to confront environmental issues and encourage sustainable practices.
