DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Michael Stroh\n\nThe e-David project explores how ind
 ustrial robots can be used as tools for artistic painting rather than simp
 ly as machines for reproducing images. We will introduce the e-David robot
 ic painting system and give an overview of how computational methods for i
 mage abstraction\, color selection\, brush-stroke generation\, and motion 
 planning are translated into physical actions with real brushes and paint.
  We will also discuss some of the challenges that arise when digital metho
 ds meet the uncertainties of a physical painting process\, as well as curr
 ent directions of our research. Using recent artworks and experiments\, th
 e tour provides a look at the different components of the system and their
  interaction. The format will be informal and interactive\, with plenty of
  room for questions and discussion along the way.
